History

Capita Registrars roots date back to the 1930s and 1940s. Over the years various registration businesses were acquired and eventually consolidated in 1991 to form Independent Registrars Group Limited.

Capita Share Plans Services started out as Bacon & Woodrow Share Schemes Trustees Ltd in the mid 1980s, which was purchased by Independent Registrars Group Limited (IRG) in 1994 to form IRG Trustees Ltd.

Throughout the 1990s Independent Registrars Group Limited acquired a number of other businesses including Barclays Registrars and Price Waterhouse Coopers Registrars in Ireland.

When Capita later purchased IRG in 2000 Capita Share Plans Services was formed as a part of a general business rebranding, myshares became a part of Capita Share Plan Services in 2000.

Capita Registrars has continued to grow in the 2000s through the acquisitions of companies such as Harford Registrars, Moorgate Registrars and Northern Registrars Ltd.
